TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE of April 8, 2024
The next observable total solar eclipse will occur on April 8, 2024.
It will be an incredible opportunity to witness this natural celestial phenomenon. You’ll need to do a little planning to avoid missing out!
Depending on your location, the eclipse will take place between 2:14 p.m. and 4:40 p.m., reaching totality around 3:25 p.m. or 3:30 p.m.
PATH OF TOTALITY
The key to successfully observing an eclipse is choosing the right viewing location. If possible, plan to watch from a location along the path of totality, where the Sun will be entirely covered by the Moon. Those outside the path of the total solar eclipse will simply not have the full experience.
SAFE VIEWING
Eye safety is another vital consideration.
See the SAFETY FIRST! section for more details.
VIEWING LOCATIONS
After finding the path of totality on a map, you can determine the best location for watching the eclipse. Within the path of totality, no one location is better than another. Only bad weather can spoil the show. There will be several designated safe viewing locations (public parking lots, open areas). Details will be made available soon.
